The Real State of the Union, 2021

Within the next few weeks, the President of the USA will give Congress a State of the Union. No doubt, he will not tell the truth. So, I thought I would give you the real state of the union.

The United States is in turmoil. The people are divided. A new president-elect and vice-president-elect, who most certainly did not win the election fairly, have been certified. Progressive liberals have taken control of the Country and are actively doing everything they can to suppress the opposition. Corruption runs rampant throughout Congress as well as state legislatures. Activist Judges across the Country openly refuse to judge fair and impartial and legislate from the bench instead. The Supreme Court refuses to do its job. Groups like BLM and Antifa are called peaceful despite rioting, looting, terrorizing, and killing for months on end. Violent crime rates are increasing everywhere. The LGBTQ lifestyle is accepted as normal, and those that oppose it are marginalized. More than 61,500,000 babies have been murdered by abortion since 1973. The education system has been dumbed down exponentially. The greatest economy in history has been destroyed. We are more than $27,000,000,000,000,000 in debt and continue to increase the deficit without any regard for the consequences. We have not been debt-free since 1835 under President Andrew Jackson. The federal government has operated with a budget only twice in the last 15 years (2007, 2015). Whew! That’s a lot of stuff, and I’ve only scratched the surface.

How did we get here? It didn’t happen overnight. It started more than 100 years ago with the progressive agenda. Those that adopted it knew it would take a long time to attain, so that’s how they planned. We have gotten here a little at a time. They have killed the Republic “with a thousand paper cuts.” Now that they have achieved victory, there is nothing to stop the rest of their agenda. Despite what the progressive liberals say, The United States of America was founded on Christian-Judeo principles. The Holy Bible, God’s inerrant, infallible Word, has the answer on how we got here.

We are following in the path of former empires that destroyed themselves from the inside out. The Book of Romans gives us a picture of what started the downfall of that empire as well as what is happening to us.

The Bible tells us in Romans 1:18-25 (ESV), “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. [19] For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. [20] For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. [21] For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. [22] Claiming to be wise, they became fools…[25] Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, [25] because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”

We have arrogantly substituted the truth about God with a lie. People have stifled the truth God naturally reveals to everyone in order to support their own self-centered way of living. This is sin, and God cannot tolerate sin because of His holy, perfect nature. He has designed the best way for people to live in harmony with him and with each other. He cannot ignore or condone willful rebellion. God’s justified anger has turned on the USA, which persists in going its own way.

The Bible goes on the explain precisely what has happened to our Country. Romans 1:26-32 (ESV), “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; [27] and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. [28] And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. [29] They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, [30] slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, [31] foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. [32] Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Who is to blame for this mess? We are. The Christians that make up the church. We sit comfortably in our padded pews and chairs while we listen to some sterilized sermonette nodding our heads and raising our hands in agreement. Then we leave and do nothing. We don’t bother to read the Bible for ourselves to see if we are being told the truth or not. We sit idly by while we allow politicians to lie and steal without any consequences (see my previous post). We sit idly by while our education system is dumbed down and history is rewritten. We don’t stand up to evil. Instead of calling on the name of Jesus to save us and guide us, we do nothing.

We look down our noses at the heathen, considering ourselves more civilized, educated, and refined. We condemn others for their gross behavior, yet we are equally guilty, though perhaps in a more sophisticated way. We can see faults in others more readily than in ourselves. Things hideous and repulsive in the lives of others seem quite respectable in our own. But the fact that we can judge sins in others shows that we know the difference between right and wrong. If we know that it is wrong for someone to steal our property, then we know it is wrong for us to steal someone else’s property. The sins of church people are essentially the same as those of the heathen. Although a moralist may argue that he has not committed every sin in the book, we should remember the following facts:

  1. We are capable of committing them all.
  2. By breaking one commandment, we are guilty of all (James 2:10).
  3. We have committed sins of thought which we may never have committed in actual deed, and the Word forbids these. Jesus taught that the lustful look, for instance, is tantamount to adultery (Matthew 5:28).

So then, what is the Christian to do? We must live our lives according to the Bible’s teaching. If we did that, we would have the impact needed to save our Country and bring it back into submission under God. The Bible says, Colossians 3:1-25 (ESV), “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [2] Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. [3] For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. [4] When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. [5] Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. [6] On account of these the wrath of God is coming. [7] In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. [8] But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. [9] Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices [10] and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. [11] Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. [12] Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, [13] bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. [14] And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. [15] And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. [16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. [17] And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. [18] Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. [19] Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. [20] Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. [21] Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. [22] Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. [23] Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, [24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. [25] For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters, we are the light in a darkened world. We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ to this world. It’s time we stood up for Him. Perhaps if we all did that, the next state of the union might be different.

Attempted Coup…NOT!

By the time you read this, you most definitely know about the incident in Washington DC on Wednesday, January 6th. You also have undoubtedly heard ad nauseam all the MSM and many politicians spouting their ridiculous views about what happened. Senator Chuck Schumer called it, “like the attack on Pearl Harbor, this is a day that will live in infamy.” Others have called it an attempted coup. It was neither of these. It was simply people fed up with the corruption and hypocrisy of Congress erupting much like a teapot that has started whistling.

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and see what brought this to a boil.

  • Vice-President Joe Biden admitted to withholding money from Ukraine unless the prosecutor who was looking into corruption involving his son, Hunter Biden, was fired. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • In the summer of 2016, President Obama and his administration illegally spied on the then-candidate Trump and his campaign. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • In November 2016, a coup against President-Elect Trump was started by President Barak Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and leaders of the FBI and CIA, among others. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • President Trump was falsely accused of collaborating with Russia in winning the election and had to endure four years of blatant lies from the media and politicians. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Hillary Clinton was caught violating laws pertaining to thousands and thousands of emails kept on a personal computer and then destroying the evidence. She has not been held accountable.
  • The Clinton Foundation was found illegally selling uranium to Russia. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Hillary Clinton paid for a dossier of lies in order to bring down the Trump administration. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Representative Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, and others conducted a corrupt and illegal impeachment against President Trump based on known lies. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioted and looted for more than 100 days in 2020. They burned down businesses, churches, government buildings, and homes. They barricaded a police precinct with officers and civilians inside and attempted to murder them by attempting to burn the building down. They laid siege to a federal building and attempted to murder the officers protecting it, seriously injuring several officers. They took control of parts of cities, terrorizing residents. They did many more illegal things. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Democrat leaders have used the Wuhan Flu to destroy the economy and ruin lives. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • Democrat politicians created the most corrupt and illegal presidential election in history. States violated their own constitutions. Fraudulent votes were used to defeat President Trump. Courts refused even to hear the evidence. Nobody has ever been held accountable.
  • President Trump received 75,000,000 votes that included more votes from every minority group since 1960, and we are supposed to believe that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris received more than 85,000,000 votes and won the election.
  • The United States has sent observers all over the world to help prevent corrupt elections. The corruption in our 2020 election would never have been allowed anywhere else, but Congress certified it.

These are just a few of the things that have happened in the last four years that have frustrated and made many people angry. There were no fires and no looting to put what happened in Washington on January 6th in perspective with the past six months. There were a few broken windows at the capitol building, and a few people got inside and walked around and sat in some offices. I am not aware of any vandalism inside the building. Police killed one veteran, and three others died of medical emergencies. That is tragic.

Now the politicians want to impeach President Trump while he has less than two weeks left in his term. They want to blame him for the incident when, in fact, they are the ones that are responsible. They want to make sure that he can never run for office again. Everything that has happened is about having control without being held accountable for anything the ruling class chooses to do.

I believe that God has turned His back on the United States of America just like he did to Israel many times in the Old Testament. Because of the church’s disobedience, corruption, and cowardice, He has left us to our own devices. But I have addressed this topic before and certainly will again. May we turn back to God, and may He have mercy on us.

A What?

The progressive liberals have lost their minds. If by chance you have not heard the opening prayer of the 117 Congress by Methodist Reverend (I kid you not) Emanuel Cleaver then you must see and hear it to believe it. Not only does he pray to others gods (blasphemy), but he makes a mockery of the Latin word “amen” that is generally used to end prayer. “Amen” is translated as “so be it” and has nothing to do with gender at all.

For this man to call himself a reverend in a mainline Christian denomination is a farce. Of course, it is just another example of how the once great United Methodist Church has fallen into apostasy. It is a sad state of the church when the leaders bow to Satan and openly mock God.

New Year’s Resolutions

The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3,000 years to the ancient Babylonians. There is just something about the start of a new year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. In reality, there is no difference between December 31 and January 1. Nothing mystical occurs at midnight on December 31. The Bible does not speak for or against the concept of New Year’s resolutions. However, if a Christian determines to make a New Year’s resolution, what kind of resolution should he or she make?

The most common resolutions include losing weight, working out, and eating healthy. Others want to stop smoking or drinking and to manage money better. Some people want to do all these things. Many Christians make New Year’s resolutions to pray more, read the Bible every day, and attend church more regularly.

By the time February is here, the vast majority of these resolutions will be long forgotten. We will be back doing the same things we were doing last year. Perhaps the problem is with our motivation for the resolutions, to begin with. Why do we want to lose weight, work out, read the Bible, etc.? Do we want to do these things in hopes of improving ourselves for selfish reasons (vanity) or to bring honor and glory to God?

Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” John 15:5 declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” If God is the center of your New Year’s resolution, it has a chance for success, depending on your commitment to it. If it is God’s Will for something to be fulfilled, He will enable you to fulfill it. If a resolution is not God-honoring and/or is not in agreement with God’s Word, we will not receive God’s help in fulfilling the resolution.

Therefore, what should a Christian do about making New Year’s Resolutions? Here are some suggestions: (1) pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) regarding what resolutions, if any, He would have you make; (2) pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you; (3) rely on God’s strength to help you; (4) find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you; (5) don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead, allow them to motivate you further; (6) don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory. Psalm 37:5-6 says, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” And, always remember Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Where’s the Outrage?

Common Sense Corner

Where is the outrage over this incredibly obvious financial fraud being perpetrated on the American people? Why are there no protesters outside the local office of every Representative and Senator who signed on to this extortion of American taxpayers?

We are supposed to be overwhelmingly grateful, we are supposed to be genuflecting to these self-styled Lords and Ladies who see themselves as our saviors, we are supposed to be singing hosanna on the highest to these clowns, these crooks, these parasites, and their various sycophants and minions, all of whom have never missed a very generous paycheck during this crisis, something that can’t be said for those of us that are forced at gunpoint, at the threat of imprisonment, to give up OUR money to pay those salaries! We are supposed to be all that and more over a $600 check while they spend billions…billions on CRAP that has no…

In spite of my background, I am not a violent person. I am not one to casually advocate resolving anything through physical destructive action, though I have been known to make comments jokingly.

But I am also not one to simply stand by and allow blatantly obvious injustices occur. I am not one to stand by and watch the results of 244 years of blood, sweat, and treasure willingly and voluntarily committed by so many people to an idea of a free and independent nation be thrown on the trash heap of history by a handful of ignorant, lazy, brain dead parasites being manipulated by power hungry puppet masters. What I am is a RABID PATRIOT that cannot sit by and watch this continue.

I do think about how this all will affect me, but I think more about how it will affect my children and my grandchildren and (hopefully)…

How Deep The Rot

Common Sense Corner

So let me see if I have this straight…the (National Socialist) Democrat Party spent millions of taxpayer dollars and wasted valuable legislation time, not to mention creating deeper divisions among the American people, claiming President Trump was tied to the Russian government yet not being able to produce one iota of physical proof of anything. But when documented proof of involvement with a known Chinese spy by a member of THEIR party is brought to light they claim there’s no there there. And then, when he IS placed in a highly sensitive position where he could potentially subvert the safety and security of the United States (how that happened is still an unexplained mystery) and it’s found out that even after he was warned about the fact that this was a Chinese espionage agent, he has been and still was in contact with this spy. And only after that is…

The State of the Union?

Common Sense Corner

What has happened to this country at the national level? The eunuch acting Republican Party and the (National Socialist) Democrat Party seem to have forgotten, or maybe are flat out ignoring, that the primary mission of the federal government is to ensure the safety and security of the United States of America, not to jockey against one another in their quest for power.

We are seeing hacking of major systems, BS amendments that have no connection or bearing to enhancing or maintaining defense being written into defense appropriations bills, ignoring foreign spies that all but openly operate at the highest levels of our government and in one case allowing an individual to sit on one of the most sensitive committees in our government and who maintained contact with the spy right up until the day their association became public knowledge even though they were notified about the spy long before…

Seven Identifiers for those Blinded by Self-Righteousness

By Josh Laxton

We live in a world filled with self-righteous people, groups, and institutions.

Self-righteousness is more than a trait—it is a state, a condition, or a way of life. It refers to those who are holier-than-thou, pharisaic, or sanctimonious. It’s a prideful reliance on who one is and what one does—in other words, someone full of themselves. While it can be subtle, it is clearly manifested in the antagonistic pious postures that people or groups have towards others.

The reality is, self-righteousness can be found virtually anywhere two or more are gathered. It can be lurking in families, organizations, politics, and yes, even churches.

Although self-righteousness can be easily diagnosed by others, it is hard for those who are self-righteous to receive the diagnosis.

To help make that diagnosis, here are seven identifiers of self-righteousness.

1)The self-righteous see themselves as better than, not better together.

Self-righteous groups or people walk around snubbing their nose in a pious manner as if they are spiritually, morally, physically, and intellectually superior than all other groups or people. The result, they consider themselves “better than” others.

A “better than” others mentality forfeits the joyful and powerful experience of a “better together” mindset. In other words, those who see themselves as “better than” will find themselves living in isolation rather than living in community.

2)The self-righteous blame others for their failures rather than take ownership of them.

God, approaching Adam and Eve in their hiding, asks them, “Who told you that you were naked?” From the readers account, it is a fairly simple and straightforward question; yet, they turned it into a complex answer, one that passed the buck to the next. Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent, and the serpent does not say anything. No one took responsibility, and the fear and embarrassment they were feeling came as a result of someone else’s doing, not their own.

The garden was the birthplace of self-righteousness. But since then, self-righteousness has pervaded the globe. It can be found anywhere people don’t take ownership of their mistakes…their failures…their sin. And just so we are clear, ownership doesn’t include watered-down platitudes like, “Yeah, but it wasn’t that bad,” or “you made me do it.”

The reality is, self-righteous people have a hard time seeing and owning their failures. For many, they believe to achieve their understanding of salvation (based upon works) they cannot fail—at least for optics sake. In other words, they believe they need to keep a good clean public image, devoid of any blemishes. And if they do somehow fall publicly, they become self-protective and resort to lying or distorting the truth or mischaracterizing (and demonizing) someone or something else as to shift the focus off of them.

Eventually, the self-righteous lose credibility with the public because the public sees through their hypocrisy.

3)The self-righteous are selfish, not selfless.

Those with snubbed pointing noses do not live life in order to serve others. Rather everything they do, or want done to them, serves their self-righteous interests. Even in the offering up of prayers and gifts, the self-righteous have as the ultimate recipients, themselves.

For instance, the prayers and gifts of the Pharisees were more for the praise they would receive from man than it was for pleasing the heart of God. That’s why Jesus said, “You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence” (Matt 23:25).

How can you ultimately tell if the offerings (e.g., prayer, money, service) offered flow from a self-righteous heart? The offerings will never be sacrificial, but superficial. In other words, they will never cost the giver anything, but will be seen as currency to buy food for the insatiable hungers of a selfish heart.

4)The self-righteous are repulsive, not attractive.

No one wants to be around people or groups that are self-righteous.

The self-righteous show no love, no grace, no mercy, no compassion. If they do have grace in their life, it is for themselves and no one else. In addition, their life is constrained by law—making sure they measure up. And since they live their life by trying to measure up, they tear everyone else down. Thus, they are very quick to point out the speck in someone else’s eye while having a massive plank in theirs.

The truth is, there is nothing attractive about being around the self-righteous. They may appear attractive on the outside, but their internal condition releases a hideous odor that drives people away. As Jesus stated about the Pharisees, they are like white-washed tombs.

5)The self-righteous see themselves as exclusive purists, not inclusive persons.

Self-righteous zealots are very protective who they associate with, or who they allow in their group. Only those similar and like-minded are invited inside the gates of the self-righteous.

Unless you side with the self-righteous, agreeing with them in everything, you will be shamed and shunned. You will be viewed as a traitor, a sinner, an evil doer, a non-conformer, a person who has “not seen the light.”

The self-righteous will not let competing ideas, thoughts, sides, or people enter into their faux-perfect world. They must keep it clean from outsiders.

6)The self-righteous are haughty, not humble.

The self-righteous need no help. They can achieve everything—including salvation—on their own. Their faith and hope are in their ability, morality, and works. If they looked in a mirror and said, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the greatest one of all?” They would hear the mirror answer, “You.”

Such a haughty posture leads to a rigid life devoid of grace. They don’t believe they need grace—given their stellar ability to perform—therefore they don’t show any grace. Haughtiness, therefore, hardens one’s heart preventing them from seeing their true need for God and seeing the true needs of others.

7)The self-righteous need more self, not more Jesus.

Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9–14) where both go up to the temple to pray. The Pharisee, “standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’” The Pharisee basically communicated to God, “Look at who I am and what I have done; you should be proud of me!” Such a prayer praises the self and feeds the heart of the self-righteous.

But, the tax collector, “standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’” The tax collector expressed his need of God. He needed God’s grace to cover his mess. More of God’s grace is something the self-righteous never need or even think they need. They just need to do more or try harder.

The Blinding Sin and the Gracious Savior

Self-righteousness is blinding. For one to say they don’t deal with self-righteousness is in and of itself a self-righteous statement. Realistically, self-righteousness permeates the hearts of human beings and the groups and institutions of which we inhabit. It basically espouses that we don’t need God, and that we are, in some sense, a god unto ourselves. Even those who have been awakened by the gospel of Christ can find themselves relapsing into the dormant disease of self-righteousness.

Although it is a blinding sin, the good news is that there is a gracious Savior to open our eyes of self-righteousness and to save us from our self-righteousness. The gospel teaches us that Jesus:

  • Didn’t see himself as “better than” us but clothed himself in human flesh
  • Took ownership of our sin although he was sinless
  • Selflessly came to serve and give his life as a ransom for our sin
  • Demonstrates the love of God for fallen humanity in dying in our place
  • Invites the “whosoever wills” to come to God
  • Humbly submits himself for the Father’s glory and the world’s good
  • Gives us himself and the Spirit to live a life we could never live

In short, Jesus selflessly gives us his righteousness so that we can be new creations that selflessly and sacrificially love God and love others. And thus the gospel is the antidote for the disease of self-righteousness.

In a world filled with self-righteousness, may the church be the fragrant aroma of Christ’s selfless and sacrificial love.

Taxing Their Way To Power

Common Sense Corner

The following is a post from Lt. Governor-Elect Mark Robinson’s Facebook page.

“When it comes to our RIGHTS Americans need to understand two things about Democrats; their legacy and their leadership. Their legacy is that of using a “poll tax” to keep people from exercising their RIGHT TO VOTE. Their current leadership has a suggested using a TAX on guns and gun components to keep people from exercising their RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. To those “leaders” I say this;

The poll tax was abolished, and the tax on our guns will not be TOLERATED…

Because BOTH subvert our CONSTITUTION.”

I’ve known Mark for a while and he has expressed admiration for my writing and letters.

We talked at the memorial service for recently deceased past County GOP Chairman Troy Lawson and Mark asked me to expound on his Facebook post comparing the poll tax of the past to the proposed…
