Oxymoron: a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.” Christian-Democrat is an oxymoron. 

Can a Christian be a Democrat; that is the question. First, we must define our terms. According to the dictionary, a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. Well, what are His teachings? Jesus summed everything up in Matthew 22:37-40. He said in response to the scribes: … “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. [38] This is the greatest and most important command. [39] The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. [40] All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” To understand what this means, we must look to the Old Testament for clarification. The Bible tells us how to live the Christian life in Exodus 20:3-8,12-17: Do not have other gods besides me. [4] Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. [5] Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, [6] but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands. [7] Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God, because the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who misuses his name. [8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: [12] Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. [13] Do not murder. [14] Do not commit adultery. [15] Do not steal. [16] Do not give false testimony against your neighbor. [17] Do not covet your neighbor’s house. Do not covet your neighbor’s wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. All of these commandments are repeated in the New Testament except for the one about the Sabbath (this may be discussed in a future post). 

What is a Democrat? According to the dictionary, it is “someone who believes in the political or social equality of all people.” On the surface, that sounds nice. However, that simply is not practical. Regardless of any type of society, there always has and always will be those that have much and those that have little. That’s just the reality. The Democratic Party today does not look like the definition. Now, let’s take a closer look at the two. 

We know from recent events that the Democrat Party supports the racist, anti-family, anti-Christian, anti-USA, communist, violent, Black Lives Matter organization. This is in direct opposition to several of the commandments, including the one about honoring your father and mother. The BLM promotes the breakdown of the family unit. With most black children already living in fatherless homes, it will only worsen if they win. 

Christianity teaches us that murder is a violation of God’s Word. The Democrats support Planned Parenthood, which specializes in the murder of unborn babies. The Democrats even support and promote the murder of newborn babies simply because the mother decides that she doesn’t want the baby. How abominable this must be to a Holy God. 

Adultery is also an abomination to God’s Word, yet former President Bill Clinton was a keynote speaker at the 2020 Democratic National Convention. He is also highly regarded in all Democratic circles. This is a man who has committed multiple confirmed cases of adultery, at least one in the Oval Office, while he was president. In addition, Joe and Jill Biden were married to other people when they started their adulterous affair. Now he is the Democratic Presidental Nominee along with his running mate, Kamala Harris. She has also been involved in multiple adulterous affairs. 

Do not steal is another commandment that Christians uphold. However, during the recent riots by BLM and Antifa, the rioters became looters by destroying property and taking everything they wanted. This illegal activity has been condoned by the Democrats in Congress as well as the party itself. 

The ridiculous impeachment hearing, the attempted coup against President Trump, and the hearing to confirm Justice Cavanaugh are just a few of the many instances of giving false testimony or outright lying by numerous Democrats in Congress. 

Christians are also taught not to covet the possessions of others. Yet the Democrats obsess about the amount of money and property some people have and want to steal from them and give to others. 

According to the Democrats, there are at least 63 different genders. This is absolutely asinine to anyone with a grain of common sense. Genesis 1:27 says: So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. 

The evidence is overwhelming. Anyone who supports the Democrat Party, platform, or candidate, is not a Christian. The Word of God is clear. You cannot violate practically every commandment and also follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. You cannot call yourself a Christian. 

If you have read this and realize that you have been hoodwinked by the Democrats, and want to follow Jesus Christ or maybe you are a Christian that has been fooled and want to get back to The Word, there is still hope for you. Fortunately, we have a loving God who is always willing to welcome you into His family or restore fellowship to those that have strayed away. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9, If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For the believer who needs to come home, 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

More than 2,000 years ago, Jesus ordained the church. It was not a building or a denomination; it was just the church. Jesus said, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” (Matthew 16:18) Contrary to what some say, Jesus was not talking about Peter being the foundation of the church. Peter describes this, “For it stands in Scripture: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (1 Peter 2:6) So, who is the Rock? The Rock is Christ. The church is built upon Christ. 

The book of Acts is a record of the early church’s growth, started by Jesus’s disciples, and then expanded by the Apostle Paul. It’s an exciting ride, from the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost to shipwrecks and imprisonments, to life-changing sermons delivered by men of God. The book of Acts provides a detailed, orderly, eyewitness account of the early church’s birth and growth and the spread of the Gospel immediately after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Its narrative supplies a bridge connecting the life and ministry of Jesus to the church’s life and the witness of the earliest believers. 

So, if the church is not a building or a denomination, then what is it? It is people. To be more specific, it is Christians. The church comprises people who have been called by God and have surrendered their life in service to Him (Ephesians 1:4-14). Why did Jesus create the church in the first place? The church has three purposes: (1) to Elevate the Savior, (2) to Evangelize the Sinners, and (3) to Edify the Saints. 

The folks in the early church were much different than church members of today. These early Christians were on fire for God. That is evident in how quickly the church grew despite be persecuted. They did not go to a fancy building with 25-foot ceilings, stained glass, elaborate decorations, sing a few songs, hear a homiletic sermonette from a highly educated professional speaker for precisely one hour each week, and then go back home and wait for the next week to come. No, these early Christians gathered in homes at great personal risk to hear from a man of God because they loved their Savior and wanted to share the Gospel with others. They were not there to be entertained, to play sports, or just to be seen. What impact would the church in the USA have if we went back to the basics? 

Today, the church has become a business–a big business. A typical church in America today does everything it can to attract high numbers of people. They need these numbers in order to sustain the business of church. We have large fancy buildings that go unused the vast majority of the time. These buildings cost enormous amounts of money to build and sustain. They are also an object of pride. 

We have fallen for the idea that the leaders must have a bunch of letters after their name, or they can’t possibly be qualified to preach, teach, or entertain. Our denominations have created preacher mills that produce these “qualified” leaders. They learn important stuff like how to make sermons sound good by using the same words or letters for their points (much like I did earlier). They also learn business skills, like administration and management. They learn about retirement plans. Practically nothing they are taught is what’s important to God. Please don’t misunderstand me. Education is essential and is important. But, the most important thing God wants is a humble servant. 

What if we did away with these buildings and started meeting in our homes? Instead of once a week, what if we talked every day with our group members and prayed together and helped each other with life? What if members of our group started their own groups? What if we put God first in everything we do? What if we Elevated the Savior, Evangelized the Sinners, and Edified the Saints? What if…?

How did we get here? The once-mighty, morally decent, beacon of light, The United States of America, has found itself lost in a world of hatred, immorality, lust, and violence. There was a time in the not too distant past when we were at the top, the best in the world. Others looked to us for guidance and leadership. God was on our side. What happened? Where did we go wrong? 

The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:1-7: “But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. [2] For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, [4] traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, [5] holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people. [6] For among them are those who worm their way into households and deceive gullible women overwhelmed by sins and led astray by a variety of passions, [7] always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

The goal of groups like the mainstream media, Black Lives Matter and Antifa, is the overthrow of the US government. They spew their lies like venom to anyone they can. Everything is racist: God, white people, western civilization, math, English, history, and government are just a few. Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality are now being taught in our schools in order to indoctrinate our children to spew their propaganda. Our children are taught to hate God and everything American. They also promote the murder of babies, homosexuality with all its perversions, sexual immorality, and all manner of cults. 

The church has been infiltrated with all kinds of false teachers. They have perverted the Gospel and misrepresented God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Ghost. Many denominations have accepted homosexuality as normal and even ordain then to preach. This is an abomination to the true God. There are “preachers” like Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, and others that are only interested in getting as much money as possible. Cults like the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Seventh-Day Adventists, are growing because the masses have strayed so far from God that they don’t recognize these fakes. 

Look at many of the large Democrat-run cities and states. Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New Your, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are just a few. These places are bankrupt (financially and morally) and are being destroyed from within. The civil unrest is spreading and will only get worse between now and the election. I expect it to explode after the election (as explained in “Elections Have Consequences”).  

Here is the problem, Romans 1:21-32: “For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened. [22] Claiming to be wise, they became fools [23] and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles. [24] Therefore God delivered them over in the desires of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. [25] They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen. [26] For this reason God delivered them over to disgraceful passions. Their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. [27] The men in the same way also left natural relations with women and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty of their error. [28] And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right. [29] They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, [30] slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, [31] senseless, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. [32] Although they know God’s just sentence—that those who practice such things deserve to die—they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.”

It’s not too late for these people. As Paul told the Corinthians, “Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, [10] no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. [11] And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) 

Our only hope is in Christ Jesus. There is some debate as to when the rapture of the church will happen. The majority of Christians believe it will arrive at the beginning of the seven year tribulation period; some think it will occur after 3 1/2 years into the tribulation, while others believe it will happen at the end. The truth is that if we are indeed in the end times, it will happen soon. Are you ready? 

Do you know that you are a sinner?

Romans 3:10-12: “as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. [11] There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. [12] All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.” 

Do you know there are consequences for your sin? 

Romans 6:23 CSB: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” 

Do you know that God loves you? 

Romans 5:8 CSB: “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus Christ died for you! Jesus’ death paid for the price of your sins. Jesus’ resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus’ death as the payment for your sins.

Do you know that because of Jesus’ death on your behalf, all you have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for your sins – and you will be saved! 

Romans 10:9-13: “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. [11] For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame, [12] since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him. [13] For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 5:1 has this wonderful message, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Through Jesus Christ, we can have a relationship of peace with God. Romans 8:1 teaches us, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, we will never be condemned for our sins. Finally, we have this precious promise of God from Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior? If so, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation! “God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!”

Defund This — Common Sense Corner

We may be in for the biggest surprise in an election since 1824. That election, there was not a winner decided by the voters. The House of Representatives decided it. I think that might be what the Democrats have in store for us this time as well. However, the rules concerning the presidency have changed sine 1824 with the passing of the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1933.

I believe the Democrats are setting the stage so that there will not be a clear winner on November 3rd. Let’s look at the facts. They are running a candidate that obviously has some mental health decline. There is no way that the Democrat Party is putting their hope in Joe Biden. They also don’t have a good choice for vice-president (that’s why one hasn’t been named yet). They are pushing for mail-in voting, which will be rattled with corruption. There is no way to verify that your vote will be counted. And, you know there will be truckloads of ballots that, for some reason, are misplaced or lost. Plus, there are going to be an avalanche of lawsuits filed on November 4th from both sides. This scenario is just what the Democrats want. Let me tell you why.

The U.S. Constitution, Amendment 20, Section 3 reads:
If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

So, suppose the Democrats can keep both Trump and Biden from qualifying for the presidency. In that case, the House of Representatives (Congress in this context is the House of Representatives) will choose who will serve as President. It can be anyone they want. With all the civil unrest and violence that I predicted in my post titled “Elections Have Consequences,” they will want to act fast and decisively. Who would they choose? Your guess is a good as mine. But, I can guarantee it will be someone who will want to destroy the USA.
